Yoga To Run – June 1st

Yoga is the perfect addition to your running program. Whether you are an avid runner or you’d just like to get started, this workshop is for you. We’ll begin with some gentle yoga at the studio to prepare us for a 5km run together on Spruce Grove’s path system. Once we return, we’ll stretch our muscles and cool down with postures designed to help you prevent common running injuries and keep you healthy on the trails.

Mother’s Day Partner Yoga – May 12th

MJoin a fellow mama for a fun and relaxing practice, connecting with a deserving mom! This class will focus on the playfulness of a partnered class, the connection between you and the lucky mom as well as offering her a supported savanasa/relaxation complete with optional aromatherapy. This class will be 90 minutes in a warm room and is suitable for ages 12+.

Quest For Headstand – April 28th

The name says it all! Traditional Sirsasana A is considered the king of all poses. It’s super complex and rather simple all at the same time. Restorative Reiki – April 13th

Please join Pierina Fadi for a healing and rejuvenating Reiki Restorative Yoga workshop. This session will involve several restorative postures, light breathing and meditation exercises, all while experiencing the gentle flow of Reiki energy.

The benefits of Restorative Yoga allows the practitioner to access deep states of stillness and rest, which in turn allows for the body to balance and heal itself.

Reiki is a form of energy healing that enhances natural healing and relaxation, and creates a sense of well-being.

Family Yoga – March 31st

A yoga workshop for the whole family to enjoy. This class will explore sun salutations, standing poses, breathing, and relaxation techniques. With partner poses and other fun interactive yoga activities, it is an opportunity to bond with your family on a Sunday afternoon!  Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Kristen Penner

I am a daughter, sister, wife and mother. I have 2 beautiful children, one fur child and a love for life and all of its journeys. I love to see people smile, grow, change and discover! I am passionate about yoga, friends, family, nutrition, nature, skiing, a good book, and finding ways to challenge my body.

My love for yoga began to blossom a few years back. I was looking to find a deeper connection within myself. My practice quickly deepened. After some time, I began to feel the benefits and grow profoundly in many aspects of my life. My entire world began to shift as I fell deeply in love with my own practice and noticed growth and balance in many areas of my life.

I began to feel a very strong urge to share the practice of yoga with others, and made the decision to take my 200hr yoga teacher training. I am now very excited to share what I know with others in hopes of helping other people find the many benefits of yoga. My mission as a teacher is to give others the opportunity to grow, find balance, build strength and feel the gift of life in every breath and in every moment.

In 2010 Yoga had came into my life while I was in a dark place mentally. Originally like most, I went to my first class for more of a physical practice. My practice was sporadic and mainly taught by Jillian Michaels until our family moved here to Spruce Grove in 2013. Shortly after I had found That Yoga Place and my practice had taken off in more ways then one. Physically, mentally and spiritually I was transforming and wanting more and more. I could see how yoga was changing the way I looked and lived my life. I was wanting to further my knowledge of yoga physically and spiritually by going to the home land of Yoga, India. While in the planning phase I found myself struggling with anxiety but knew that I would not let it get the best of me and decided to take my training at That Yoga Place, and I haven’t looked back since.

Since finishing my ryt200, I have continued with more in Yin, Restorative and kid’s yoga.

Yoga has done so much for me and I am wanting to share that with others.

30 Day Yoga Challenge – April 2nd

Getting into and maintaining a healthy routine calms the mind and balances the body, keeping your energy steady and strong. Nothing helps you build strength, flexibility, and balance like a 30-day yoga challenge! If you are looking for motivation to kick-start or revitalize your yoga practice, this is the challenge for you!

The challenge begins Tuesday, April 2nd. Come to any class on the schedule! There will be a kick-off meeting that day at 8:45 am. Meet other people in the challenge, set your goals and challenge intention and receive answers to commonly asked questions!
The challenge ends 35 days later Monday, May 6th (wrap up meeting at 5:00 PM).

The challenge runs over 35 days to give you a little leeway so that you can miss a day if something comes up. The studio is closed Friday, April 19th for Good Friday. Therefore, that would count as 1/5 FREE DAYS for the challenge.

Building a routine takes 28 days. By the time you are done, yoga will be a healthy lifestyle habit for you! You must attend one class per day – no doubling up days. If you successfully attend yoga for 30 days, you will receive 30 days of yoga post-challenge FREE. Everyone who enters the challenge will be entered in a draw for a $50 That Yoga Place gift certificate. What better way to stay healthy, invigorate your yoga practice and feel awesome!

Registration: $100 + GST

If you have a current class pass or membership, it will be put on hold for the duration of the Challenge.

*30 days of free yoga commences the day after the Challenge ends. No transfers, extensions or exceptions. Must be a 30 Day Challenge Participant and have successfully completed 30 classes (one class per day – no doubling up days) at That Yoga Place to qualify.

Conscious Couples – March 31st

Conscious Couples: Connecting birth partners through pregnancy, labour & delivery.

This workshop will help strengthen the bond between birth partners and the baby to be. Partners will learn different ways to assist loved ones with hands on comfort measures ideal for labour and delivery. We will explore elements of prenatal partner yoga, prenatal partner Thai massage, reiki, and breathing techniques to deepen relaxation and connection throughout pregnancy and the birthing process.

It is preferred that the mom to be is further along in her pregnancy for this workshop (late second trimester to due date) so that the tools you gain in this workshop stay fresh in your mind and can be recalled easily when the time comes!

Together we can help to eliminate the fear that surrounds the birthing process, replacing it with a calm confidence – surrendering with love & trust, that this process will unfold exactly as it’s intended to.

Yoga Fundamentals – March 30th

Are you new to yoga? Looking to further your knowledge of common poses? Tweak your technique? This workshop is great for all levels, even if you’ve never practiced before. Deanne will break down common poses and sequences. Together you will go over sun salutations, warrior series, pranayama (breathing) techniques and more! All students will receive a manual, with pictures to take home.
