  • Mysore- June 23rd

    Take your practice to the next level & start practicing Mysore Style with us at the studio and at home. Mysore has nothing to do with being sore …. it is the place, the origin in India of a special style of yoga: The goal is to practice at your own individual pace and level, knowing your asanas and being able to focus more on your breath and exploring the connection of drishti, breath & bandha. In the beginning, we will look into the practiced asanas in theory and you will receive your own set of poses based on the Ashtanga primary series. If you are already practicing second or advanced series please let us know and you will also be able to join at your level of practicing Ashtanga yoga. It is not a led class but an individual guided and assisted practice to go into a deeper understanding of your body & mind. After this workshop, you will feel ready and comfortable to step into your regular Ashtanga or flow yoga practice and start practicing at home or at studios that offer Mysore style classes. If you already have taken our Ashtanga 101 workshop it will be a great benefit for this course.

  • Summer Self Care Wisdom – June 15th

    Together we will explore the deep waters of Ayurvedic wisdom, the mysticism of the moon in relation to our yoga practice and Herbology. We will learn how we can apply this knowledge in our daily lives during our short, sweet, hot Canadian summer. Daria will primarily talk about the Dosha influences and how to create balance within your body, your digestive system, and your mental-emotional wellbeing. You will be learning about cooling herbs for the summer and how to make flower essences and herbal infusions. Our time together will end with a sweet, cooling flow with yin elements to round up the practice and there will be a little summer surprise to take home with you. This workshop is for all levels of yoga.

  • Yoga To Run – June 8th (date changed from June 1st)

    Yoga is the perfect addition to your running program. Whether you are an avid runner or you’d just like to get started, this workshop is for you. We’ll begin with some gentle yoga at the studio to prepare us for a 5km run together on Spruce Grove’s path system. Once we return, we’ll stretch our muscles and cool down with postures designed to help you prevent common running injuries and keep you healthy on the trails.

  • Thai Yoga Massage & Meditation – May 25th

     

    Thai Massage can be traced back over 2500 years to India and spread with Buddhism to other parts of Asia. It is a synthesis of yoga, Ayurveda, and massage. Done on the floor in comfortable clothing, it incorporates assisted stretching similar to Hatha yoga and working acupressure points. It is stimulating both physically and energetically, giving benefits to both recipient and practitioner alike!

    It can be an excellent tool for yoga teachers looking to become more comfortable giving assists, for anyone looking to deepen their knowledge and practice of yoga or massage, or for couples and friends just looking to have some fun and try something new!

    This workshop will provide an overview of Thai yoga massage, with a guided stretch routine/massage of one hour, and some basic understanding of acupuncture(pressure) points on the arms and legs. Be prepared to get close, get a little exercise and a few laughs.

    Marie did her Thai massage training in Chaing Mai, Thailand in 2004 and has been incorporating it into her massage practice in Edmonton ever since.

  • Yoga For Anxiety – May 11th
    Moving from darkness to light.
    This practice guides you through breath work and body practices that serve you when you are feeling stressed, anxious and ungrounded. Often times, We hold stress and tension in the neck, throat, chest, shoulders, back, and hips. This puts our body into a “Fight or Flight” response creating anxiety. This workshop focuses on postures that open and stretch these areas along with pranayama breathing techniques that will calm the nervous system during stressful situations.

    Tracey will move through meditation and journaling to find stillness while focusing on being present in the moment and observing thoughts without reacting to them. Allow your mind, body, and soul to come together as one and leave feeling focused. Join Tracey to find relaxation and learn new techniques to calm your thoughts, exhale tension and find balance.

    The mobility of our spine directly correlates with our ability to produce endorphins and feel ecstatic and happy beyond measurement. To learn how to work towards longevity and to keep and maybe increase your range of spinal flexion and extension – you would want to be part of this workshop. Daria will take you on a quest towards understanding your spine’s range of motion, to explore limitation and openness within the soft tissue of the body and our skeletal structure. You will be surprised about your ability to work into the deeper holds in yoga such as Urdhva Danurasana, Ustrasana and maybe even Kapotasana. This workshop will teach you correct alignment and thus is suitable for all levels of yoga students from beginners to advanced.

  • Partnered Yoga – May 5th

    Partnered Yoga getting ready for baby: Connecting birth partners through pregnancy, labor & delivery

    This workshop will help strengthen the bond between birth partners and the baby to be. Partners will learn different ways to assist loved ones with hands-on comfort measures ideal for labor and delivery. We will explore elements of prenatal partner yoga, prenatal partner Thai massage, reiki, and breathingdefaultImage techniques to deepen relaxation and connection throughout pregnancy and the birthing process.

    It is preferred that the mom to be is further along in her pregnancy for this workshop (late second trimester to due date) so that the tools you gain in this workshop stay fresh in your mind and can be recalled easily when the time comes!
    Together we can help to eliminate the fear that surrounds the birthing process, replacing it with calm confidence – surrendering with love & trust, that this process will unfold exactly as it’s intended to.

  • Restorative Yoga – April 20th

    This is a gentle, extremely relaxing class designed to calm, soothe and support the body and mind. With the use of props, poses will be moved into and held for 5-10 minutes, allowing the body to soften and ease stiffness from the joints and muscles in a completely supported way. The class is great for relieving stress and tension and will restore you to a deeply calm and relaxed state when you leave.
